Historical Note:

Eleanor Roosevelt served as the First Lady of the United States from March 1933 to April 1945 during her husband President Franklin D. Roosevelt's four terms in office. Eleanor Roosevelt served as United States  Delagate  to the United Nations General Assembly from 1945 to 1952.

In April 1946, she became  the first chairperson of the preliminary United Nations Commissions on Human Rights. In a speech on the night of September 28, 1948, Eleanor spoke in favor of the Declaration, calling it "the international  Magna Carta of allmen everywhere.
